MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, JAKARTA – General Secretary of Muhammadiyah Abdul Mu’ti disagreed that the COVID-19 virus was deliberately created by China.
According to Mu’ti, the unfounded opinion emerging due to political sentiment didn’t make sense.
“China are also affected by this pandemic. Logically, it’s impossible that a country created a virus which harms its own country,” Mu’ti said in the forum of Convey Indonesia on Friday (23/7).
“It’s true the country sells vaccines. However, the losses because of the COVID-19 are much greater than the profits the country gets from the vaccine selling. We can see the fact because economy go together with other sectors,” he said.
Tourism in China has also dropped and experienced a huge loss. Many tourist destinations are closed.
“Indonesians are one of the targeted tourists for China. Indeed, some Umrah travel agencies are from China. Imagine how many Indonesians haven’t used used their services because of this pandemic. All flights are cancelled. Everything’s messed up, and this pandemic renders enormous losses,” Mu’ti said.
“I think we all face the same problem. The virus exists as Sunatullah (Law of Allah). If people don’t have clean lifestyle and maintain health, any deceases can infect them, and the condition is sunatullah,” Mu’ti said.
“If the cause of this virus is uncleanness, the answer is washing hands, keeping distance, and avoiding face-to-face interaction not to cause droplet. All of them are our efforts which can be explained scientifically,” Mu’ti said.
