MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YOGYAKARTA – The Fourth National Plenary Meeting of the Muhammadiyah Council for Tarjih ratified that fajr time is eight minutes late. Secretary of Muhammadiyah Agung Danarto required all people to obey the new decision.
Fajr time criteria becomes an official organization decision approved at the National Meeting of Tarjih XXXI.
“Muhammadiyah mosques and prayer rooms to adjust the fajr time,” stated Agung on Wednesday (24/3).
He also requested the Muhammadiyah Council for Tarjih and the Muhammadiyah Information Center (MPI) to promote the decree to public, particularly Muhammadiyah people.
“The Central Board of Muhammadiyah expects that the decision can be implemented soon by Muhammadiyah people,” wished Agung.
Regarding a fajr time difference from other Islamic organizations, he considered that the difference will always exist and it’s common. He encouraged Muhammadiyah people to apply the decision and respect the difference.
“We’re trying to implement the decision without judging that other people are wrong,” advised Agung.
Besides, Agung answers many people’s question whether fasting starts when imsak or fajr. He elucidated that it begins when fajr. The imsak time is addressed to people who will fast so that they know it’s almost fajr.
“Imsak means to refrain from whatever that voids our fasting so that people may end their suhoor, but the fasting time begins when fajr,” he explained.
