MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – Groups of people think that performing perfect religious practices is hard even though Allah has given rukhsah (concession).
“Al-Qur’an remains us that Allah doesn’t complicate us. It’s mentioned twice on Al-Qur’an,” declared General Secretary of Muhammadiyah Abdul Mu’ti on Friday (9/7).
“I found them on Surah Al-Maidah verse 6 and Al-Hajj verse 78,” he added.
Surah Al-Baqarah reveals that “… Allah intends ease for you, not hardship …”
Mu’ti stated that Allah eases us, but people assumes if it’s not hard, their religious practices aren’t perfect.
Bukhari transmitted sunnah stated that Abu Huraira reported God’s Messenger as saying we may not overdose religion.
“The religion is ease, but if anyone overdoes it, they will be defeated by the religion. Thus, perform the religion as it’s supposed to be,” he asserted.
Furthermore, he explained religion should be practiced happily. We may not regard that we aren’t serious about religion if it isn’t difficult.
“You should ask Allah’s help. He eases us. Don’t overdo religion because sometimes it will lead us to make up something whose guidance doesn’t exist in the sharia,” he emphasized.
