MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – Program Coordinator of Muhammadiyah Aid Wachid Ridwan asserted that international humanitarian aids of Muhammadiyah is nothing to do with politics. This movement will always remain neutral.
Muhammadiyah is not the new one contributing to the international humanitarian aids.
Even though Muhammadiyah is a faith-based organization, the humanitarian actions will inclusively carried out. Indeed, Muhammadiyah provides aids for everyone regardless their background, nationality, and faith.
“We don’t give our help to specific groups of people such as Muslims although our humanitarian aids are often linked to religious backgrounds.
Muhammadiyah Aid doesn’t disregard international agreements. This movement cannot immediately contribute to international disaster management. It depends on the disaster category. For instance, Myanmar declared that the Rohingya crisis was an international disaster so that the Muhammadiyah Aid could assist the crisis-affected people.
Besides, Muhammadiyah Aid always provides sustainable aids instead of giving the help and being done. The World Health Organization (WHO) has acknowledged Muhammadiyah’s international humanitarian actions. Indeed, Muhammadiyah Disaster Management (MDMC) owns the Emergency Medical Team (EMT) meeting the WHO standards.
Nevertheless, the certification for the EMT was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic whereas it would be fruitful legitimacy for Muhammadiyah to take the international humanitarian actions.
Muhammadiyah Aid always performs the actions by remaining to conform international agreements among countries.
