MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YOGYAKARTA – The Central Board of Muhammadiyah appreciates President Jokowi’s political will to revoke Presidential Regulation Number 10/2021.
President of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir conveyed that the president’s decision shows the government being democratic and amenable to aspirations and objections of people, particularly Muslims including Muhammadiyah people.
“Muhammadiyah has officially refused and requested the revocation of the presidential regulation. President Decree to revoke the regulation is a positive political attitude and represents openness of the government to people’s critics and constructive recommendations to the betterment of this nation,” declared Haedar on Tuesday (2/3).
The government certainly understands that alcohol is about not only an issue for Muslims that it’s prohibited (haram) for them but also bad impacts of it on mentality and morals of this nation.
“All parties must entirely support economic development as long as it isn’t against values of Pancasila, religion, and nobel culture of Indonesia. There are many fields in which the government can invest to develop the nation’s economy,” asserted Haedar.
