MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, MANADO – Chairman of Muhammadiyah Muhadjir Effendy stated that Muhammadiyah has three foci as a movement.
They are Muhammadiyah as an organization, socio-denominator, and state of mind.
According to Muhadjir, two of them are well-performed, but the other, the socio-denominator, requires more concern.
The socio-denominator refers to relations among public and national figures and Muhammadiyah due to their backgrounds such as family and Muhammadiyah education.
Muhadjir told that many figures in the government and non-government have Muhammadiyah backgrounds, but they are no longer linked to Muhammadiyah anymore.
If figures’ attitudes aren’t in accordance with Muhammadiyah teachings, Muhammadiyah should be with them to return to the teachings.
“That’s our responsibility for revive the socio-denominator. We may not avoid them because they aren’t in line with Muhammadiyah teachings. I think that’s one of the weaknesses of Muhammadiyah,” declared Muhadjir.
Meanwhile, Muhadjir said that Muhammadiyah has concerned with the other two aspects, Muhammadiyah as an organization and state of mind, through establishing centers of excellence.
“Muhammadiyah thoughts are progressive modern Islam. It means that even though people aren’t related to Muhammadiyah, but if they are Muslims and have progressive missions, their state of mind is Muhammadiyah,” he asserted.
