MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, BANJARNEGARA – Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia issued an import permit of 550,000 tons of raw sugar in 2020. The Ministry of Trade argued that the import was intended to reduce the increase in sugar prices in the market.
The Ministry of Trade determined the highest price for sugar at 12,500 rupiahs per kilogram. However, in the market, the price of sugar has soared beyond the highest, up to 17,000 rupiahs per kilogram.
Quoted by daisalbasri.com on Wednesday (14/4), a senior economist Faisal Basri contended that the raw sugar import policy benefits importers and harm sugarcane farmers. He thought that it’s quite weird because the sugar import increases year by year.
“In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, when the import drop, but the sugar import jumped from 4.09 million tons in 2019 to 5.54 million tons in 2020. The number is the highest in history. In contrast, food and drink industries as the greatest users of sugar fell from 7.8% in 2019 to 1.6% in 2020,” mentioned Faisal.
To answer the issue, Rumah Mocaf Indonesia and Excellent Group Business Office supervised by the Muhammadiyah Council for Community Empowerment offered his new product, namely GulaMu.
Director of the Rumah Mocaf Indonesia Riza Azyumaridha Azra informed that GulaMu is liquid sugar made from cassava. It’s an alternative to sugar cane and it’s sweeter and healthier.
“The price is affordable so that people from lower middle class can purchase it. From the health perspective, the GulaMu is safe for diabetes and low in calories,” he told.
Besides, the GulaMu can help cassava farmers to improve their lives since the GulaMu is made from 100% of cassava cropped by cassava farmers in Banjarnegara.
The selling price of GulaMu and the purchase price of cassava apply a concept of economic democracy, which there is price transparency between the farmers and GulaMu producer. Call +6287831762616/+6285643825425 for order.
